Hi all,
A reminder that we are running a trial of the FOSDEM hands-on workshop
next Thursday (16 Jan). Please make sure you register via the link below
- we need to know the numbers for catering.
We'll have lots of the new power measurement boards for hooking up to
ARM and Atmel systems, or to any other device people turn up with.
Best wishes,
Jeremy

*Thursday 16th January, Bristol University 9:00 to 17:00*
Join the Technology Strategy Board's ESP and ICT Knowledge Transfer
Networks for a hands-on workshop on practical low-power system development.
This informal event is the first such workshop run by the Energy
Efficient Computing Special Interest Group.
* Join experts from Intel and ARM to learn how to characterise
software application power usage for their platforms using the
capabilities provided by those platforms.
* Use the low-cost energy monitoring boards developed by the
Embecosm/University of Bristol MAGEEC project to measure the energy
efficiency of your own software and hardware up to 6 million times
per second. Or use one of the platforms provided to experiment on.
* Hear an informal update from Lauterbach on their capabilities in the
area.
This is a unique opportunity to work with key industry players to help
characterise the power usage of applications, either using platform
capabilities offered by the leading vendors, or by instrumenting the
hardware system to measure the raw data directly.
This event is targeted at embedded software designers who have a power
budget to meet and want to understand more about the consequences of
design decisions in their code.
Delegates are encouraged to bring their own source code (on memory stick
or hard drive) and/or hardware for instrumentation with experts from the
MAGEEC project and practical guidance with experts from ARM and Intel.
